Title: Growing LiteracyCoordinator/Facilitator: Penny Vincent and Michelle SaricDescription: Have you heard discussion in the education sector and the media recently around structured literacy and the importance of an explicit literacy approach? As our literacy rates in New Zealand continue to decline, delivering a literacy curriculum that allows success for all learners, not just some, is more important than ever. This group will discuss ways we can grow our teaching knowledge and make changes to our practise that will affect change and progress in the children we teach each day. There is the ability to splinter this group into pods for those wanting to look at primary literacy and those wanting to look at year 9-13. This way we are able to look at literacy progression across Year 1-13 when we come back together.
